Newtronic 'SU6' Electronic Ignition Kit

This breakerless 'solid state' electronic ignition kit features optical triggers as opposed
to the Boyer Bransden kit which use inductive (magnetic) sensors.

I have made a short review of the Newtronic kit below

Review

I got their SU6 kit now (yes I paid full price) and here is my impressions; I have not at this time actually installed this kit or the Boyer Bransden kit. The review is an assessment of the parts as they come in the box.

In short - I favour this kit over the Boyer Bransden variant because it is a fully ready-to-install professional quality kit.

The Boyer bransden kit is really made for a Kawasaki model so in case of that kit the timing plate does not readily fit without user adaption work. Also there is no connectors but the user is supposed to cut the Suzuki wiring and press fit the somewhat amateurish wiring of this kit to the Suzuki circuit.

As a marked contrast the Newtronic kit features ready made connectors compatible with the Suzuki connectors so installing is just a matter of plugging connectors together. Brilliant and does not butcher up the original wiring.

On the Newtronic the timing plate is specifically made to fit Suzuki GT engines.

The Boyer Bransden timing plate has sensors mounted at fixed 120 degree spacings so there is no way to time each cylinder individually. It all depends on crank parts really being 120 degrees apart and sensors really operating identically.

With the Newtronic kit the timing of each cylinder is individually adjustable.

Only known weakness with the Newtronic kit is you cannot run the engine with the timing cover off in bright sunlight.
This disturbs the optical sensors. But this is a no-issue.

This cable 'installs' the kit into the GT750 wiring using compatible connectors. No cutting of existing GT750 wiring required.

I am not sure exactly what disco light effects will be obtained from those triple LED's..

The wiring from the sensor board is installed in a plastic connector and plugs into the control unit.

I have scanned the material and made it available on the web so you can study what
it would take to install such a system on your GT.
